Our family would like to welcome you to the Chicago area as your home away from home. If you would like to improve your English and want to have quality conversations every day, you may want to consider the Howorth Family Home Stay.
Our family consists of David and Mary (parents), our son James (18) and daughter Hannah (13).
We know what it feels like to not know the language or customs of another country. We understand the frustration of not understanding how the public transportation and banking systems work. Mary lived in the U.K. and Ireland for 4 1/2 years and traveled extensively throughout Europe. David is a British National and lived for 10 years in South America. Mary is also a certified teacher of English and has worked in a local middle school.
We have hosted many people from throughout the world in our home. We enjoy getting to know them and learning about their family, country, and customs.And the students who have stayed with us have become part of our extended family, coming to our celebrations and parties. Over the past 5 years of hosting students, many of those who have lived with us have stayed two or more years.
If you enjoy getting to know people and learning about a new country and culture, you will enjoy living with us.
We have a large, bright room available with private bathroom. You will also have access to the entire first floor of our home, which includes the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and another bathroom.
We offer a FREE WASHER and DRYER, FREE Internet access and are within walking distance to public transportation. Students easily commute to ELS/Dominican, Intrax, Solex, UIC and more. You also have access to our large garden and spacious two story deck. We allow smoking outside the house.
Breakfast is "serve yourself" while dinners will be provided Monday through Friday and occasionally on weekends.
